St. Petersburg Zenit lost to Moscow Lokomotiv on the road in the match of the 17th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL). This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.

The meeting took place on Sunday, December 3, and ended with a score of 3:1 in favor of the hosts. The railway workers took the lead in the eighth minute after an own goal by blue-white-blue goalkeeper Mikhail Kerzhakov. At the end of the first half, Matteo Cassier equalized the score, but Maxim Glushenkov scored the decisive goal at the beginning of the second half of the game. In the 88th minute, Nair Tiknizyan increased Lokomotiv’s lead.

Due to the defeat, Zenit lost its leadership in the RPL and is in second place in the championship. Lokomotiv reached sixth position.

Lokomotiv will host Ural at home in the next round on December 8th. A day later, Zenit will play at home against Nizhny Novgorod.
