The IOC explained the decision to approve the change of citizenship of three athletes by the suspension of the OCD

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) explained the decision to approve the change of citizenship of three athletes without the approval of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). RIA Novosti reports this.

The IOC stated that the decision was made due to the suspension of the ROC. It is noted that the organization no longer has the right to act as a national Olympic committee.

On November 29, the IOC announced that it had approved the change of citizenship of three athletes representing Russia. The decision was made ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Cyclist Valeria Lyubimova will compete for France, cyclist Mikhail Yakovlev will compete for the Israeli team, and Greco-Roman wrestler Georgiy Tibilov will represent Serbia.

Yakovlev, 23, won bronze at the 2021 World Championships in Keirin. 23-year-old Tibilov is a bronze medalist at the World and European Championships.
