English round starts under covid alert

The Premier League is following with concern the anti-coronavirus tests of its teams on the eve of the 17th round of the English Championship which will be played between Tuesday and Thursday this week.

After Tottenham (7th), which could not play against Brighton (11th) on Sunday, and Leicester (8th) – teams due to face each other on Thursday – Manchester United (5th) and Aston Villa (13th) registered cases of covid-19 between players and coaching staff.

However, the inaccuracy in the number of positives in their rosters increased fears.

United, led by Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, should open the English round this Tuesday against Brentford (10th), a great opportunity to enter, at least provisionally, in the group of the top four, who qualify for the next Champions League .

To catch up, the ‘Red Devils’ immediately await a stumble from West Ham (4th) in Arsenal’s (6th) stadium, which are separated by just two points.

Leaders Manchester City host Leeds (15th) on Tuesday, while Liverpool (2nd) and Chelsea (3rd) face Newcastle (19th) and Everton (14th) on Thursday at their stadiums, respectively.
