Russia rises in FIFA rankings

The Russian national team rose from 39th to 38th place in the FIFA rankings

The Russian national team has risen to 38th place in the International Football Federation (FIFA) rankings. This is reported on the organization’s website.

In the previous version of the ranking, which was published on October 26, Russia was in 39th place. Since then, Valery Karpin’s team has played one friendly match. The Russians defeated Cuba with a score of 8:0 in Volgograd.

There were several changes in the top ten. England moved up to third place, and Belgium to fourth. The Brazilians finished fifth. In addition, the Netherlands and Portugal switched places. Now they occupy the sixth and seventh lines, respectively.

On February 28, 2022, FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) excluded Russian national teams and clubs from international tournaments. Teams do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team lost the opportunity to compete for access to the final part of the 2022 World Cup and does not participate in the Euro 2024 qualifications.
