Brazilian heavyweight Antonio Silva will not be able to take part in the event. Instead, Russian Sergey Kharitonov will fight Tyrone Spong from the Netherlands. The Miami event marks Eagle FC’s US debut on January 28th.
Spong is best known for his boxing and kickboxing performances. The athlete has only two fights according to the rules of mixed martial arts (MMA). On account of 41-year-old Kharitonov 38 victories with eight winnings in MMA.
Nurmagomedov’s plans to organize an Eagle FC tournament in the United States became known at the end of November. Then the owner of the promotion spoke about the imminent signing of contracts with famous fighters. Later, Rashad Evans, known for his performances in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), joined the promotion.
Eagle FC is based on Gorilla FC. In November 2020, Nurmagomedov became the owner of the promotion and re-branded.
