The 36-meter-high Christmas tree, located in the Zoila Ugarte de Landívar park, in the south of Machala, will remain illuminated, at night, until January 6, 2022.
Last Sunday, the lights of the giant structure were turned on during an event that was attended by dozens of people. There was an artistic show that included choirs, live artists and a Santa Claus show.
“This year a few more meters were incorporated into the Christmas tree to be considered the largest in the country, in the surroundings objects related to the Christmas season were also placed,” said the mayor of Machala, Darío Macas.
Around 6,000 people gathered around the tree who enjoyed the show organized by the Mayor’s Office of Machala.
Among the participating groups were the Christmas choir Talent Orense, the choir of the Municipality of Machala and the Polyphonic choir of the Technical University of Machala.
The children and their families were excited when Santa Claus appeared riding his sleigh, which was adjusted to a crane giving the appearance that he was flying, he arrived at the main stage where other Christmas characters were waiting for him.
The mayor of the capital of orense was in charge of the countdown to light the tree adorned with more than 16,000 led lights.
In the Juan Montalvo park a giant manger and spheres of LED lights were installed, as well as the palm trees and trees.
These public spaces serve as a setting for tourists to take advantage of taking pictures during the Christmas festivities. (I)
