Andrei Rublev explained that aggression on the court is caused by expectations from oneself
Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev explained the reasons for the manifestation of aggression on the court. He is quoted by “Championship”.
Rublev said that emotional outbursts during the game cause expectations from oneself. “I just really want to win and show a good result. But, unfortunately, sometimes this results in aggression. When you want something very badly, but it doesn’t work out, the puzzle in your head doesn’t fit,” the athlete shared.
On November 15, Rublev hit himself several times with his racket in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Final Tournament match against Carlos Alcaraz (5:7, 2:6). The Russian hit himself in the leg, breaking his knee and bleeding.
Rublev is ranked fifth in the ATP rankings. In 2023, he won the Masters Series tournament for the first time and reached the quarterfinals of three Grand Slam tournaments.
