Hasek condemned the NHL for its lack of interest in disqualifying Russian hockey players
Olympic champion, two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominik Hasek again condemned the National Hockey League (NHL) for allowing Russian players. His words are quoted by tvnoviny.sk.
Hasek criticized the league leadership for their disinterest in the disqualification of Russian hockey players. “At the moment, I condemn not only the Russian players, but above all the NHL, which allows them to play. It’s sad, but that’s the situation. I’m trying to do everything to change it,” he said.
Hasek is known for criticizing Russian athletes. He called for Russians to be banned from all international tournaments. In particular, the Czech proposed suspending the contracts of Russian players in the NHL, and later called on the league leaders to resign because of their position on Russia.
The new NHL season started on the night of October 11. Russian athletes continue to play for league clubs without restrictions.
