Tarasova said that figure skater Valieva not only gained weight, but also grew
Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova assessed the excess weight of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. Her words are quoted by Soviet Sport.
“You can’t say that Camila just gained weight, because she has grown significantly. I’ve gained weight, but I’ve matured,” Tarasova said. She believed that the 17-year-old athlete was getting into shape and would soon regain all her jumps.
On November 26, Valieva won the sixth stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Moscow. In the free program, the athlete fell twice and earned a total of 226.22 points. The victory was her first in 2023.
The figure skater is the subject of a doping investigation. Traces of a prohibited drug were found in Valieva’s sample from December 2021. The final decision in the athlete’s case will be made in January 2024.
