Ustyugov said that young skiers should fight for victory in the Russian Cup
Olympic cross-country skiing champion, Russian Sergei Ustyugov, spoke on his Telegram channel about training for a salary.
“Let’s say the rolls have relaxed this season. I can honestly tell you: I have no chance this year. I train, so to speak, more for pleasure and for salary,” said the athlete. He believed that young skiers should fight for victory in the Russian Cup, but he himself sets other goals for himself.
In December 2022, Ustyugov announced that he was tired of skiing. The athlete said that he has no desire to compete in tournaments and has to force himself.
Ustyugov is the champion of the 2022 Games in the men’s relay race. The Russian also has two golds, four silvers and one bronze at the world championships.
In March, the Norwegian Ski Federation suspended Russians from participating in tournaments under its auspices. Later, the International Ski Federation (FIS) extended this measure to all international competitions that it organizes.
