After practically two years without a presence on the international scene, the rider Ecuadorian Jonathan Camacho reappeared last weekend in the Pan American BMX Freestyle Lima 2021 Championship and won a bronze medal in the grand final of the contest that took place on Sunday.
The greatest national exponent of this sport earned a place in the list of 11 classified for the final stretch of the tournament. All of them did not stop at the Costa Verde Beach circuit, in the San Miguel district, the same one that was used for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games and which has UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) regulations.
In the decisive instance of the event, Camacho faced world leaders such as the Costa Rican Kenneth Tencio, located among the four best of the past Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and the Argentine José Torres, a silver medalist at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

The Pan American BMX Freestyle Lima 2021 Championship, organized by the Peruvian National Cycling Federation (FDPC) in coordination with the Legacy Project, had the participation of more than 60 athletes, including men and women, from eleven countries, highlighting Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, the United States, Panama and Venezuela.
The Ecuadorian BMX Freestyle team also competed the young promise Anthony Lara, Cristhian Bailón, Jorge Loor and Richard Aizaga. Lara and Bailón made it through Saturday’s tie, but could not advance from qualifying to the final.
