At the end of the first period, Ovechkin tried to use force against the opposing team’s defender Vincent Dearnay. He was able to dodge, causing Ovechkin to crash into the protective glass.

After the sound of the siren, the captain of the Washington Capitals did not want to calm down. He quarreled with Dearne and hit him in the face with a club. Ovechkin immediately apologized to him, and the judges fined the Russian hockey player for playing with a high stick.

Earlier, Alexander Ovechkin said that together with Canadian Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby he saved the National Hockey League. He also called on young hockey players to prove that they are better than their predecessors.
