Two-time Olympic swimming champion Yannick Agniel has admitted to charges of raping his coach Lionel Horter’s underage daughter. This is reported by the BFM with reference to the prosecutor Edwig Roux-Morisot.
Agniel does not believe that he forced the teenager to have sex. In his opinion, everything happened by mutual agreement. The prosecutor added that the swimmer is experiencing memory problems.
According to the investigation, the athlete raped the girl several times in 2016, when they were in Thailand, Brazil and Tenerife. At that time he was 24 years old, she was 13 years old.
The 29-year-old swimmer was detained on December 9 and taken to the Mulhouse police department. On December 11, charges were brought against him, but the court rejected the request for the detention of Agniel. Hearings on the case will continue, additional investigations will be carried out.
Agiel is the winner of two gold and one silver medals at the 2012 Olympics. In addition, he became world champion twice. The swimmer retired in 2016.
