The police describe the intervention concerning the attack on the Legia players. And explains: “Activity is necessary”

“At 7:45 pm in Książenice, a group of several dozen people gathered in front of the Legia center, which prevented the entry of the coach with the players to the center. At the sight of the KSP policemen, people ran away. At the moment, there is no information indicating the use of force against the players.”

It’s a tweet on Sunday night. It was published after Sebastian Staszewski from Interia that a group of hooligans followed the bus with Legia players who were returning from (0: 1). Moments later, the group entered the bus and delivered “justice” to the players. Several of them suffered severely.

According to Sport.pl, the hooligans waited with an ambush on the route, and a group of several dozen fans gathered separately in front of the Legia Training Center in Książenice. There was also the police in the training center, but the attack was supposed to happen sooner. The bandits were supposed to run out of the woods and get on the bus, where they shouted, cursed and demanded more involvement. Our information shows that they suffered, inter alia, Mahir Emreli, but also Luquinhas, which is one of the few players to whom you can have the least objections in recent weeks.

The police have not yet confirmed the information about the beating and denied that she was called by the Legia. – The policemen themselves observed the situation and intervened. When they arrived at the center in Książenice, the people dispersed and the intervention ended. In addition, nothing else was found – says the spokesman of the Warsaw Police Headquarters, Sylwester Marczak, with whom we talk to on Monday before noon.

Legia has still not issued any announcements

Marczak adds that the information is constantly verified by the police from Grodzisk Mazowiecki. – At the moment, the tweet that was sent on Sunday night is still valid. We do not have any signal or report that would confirm that there has been a violation of inviolability – admits Marczak.

Legia does not confirm this either, which still has not issued any official announcement, although several sources at the club claim that several players were physically attacked by hooligans.

– Remember that in the case of the police we rely on notifications, reports and facts, and not on information that circulates in the press space. Of course: we verify them, but at the moment we have nothing to confirm that such an event occurred. And in the case of crimes or offenses, we must have reports, documents or complaints to take action. It is necessary, for example, to be active on the part of potential victims, and at the moment I repeat: we do not have any materials that there has been a violation of inviolability – concludes Marczak.

Four years ago, there was a similar incident

This is not the first time that Legia’s players have been beaten. A similar situation occurred four years ago. In October 2017, after a 0: 3 defeat with Lech in Poznań. Then the incident took place in the club car park in Warsaw, where a group of about 50 people waited for the coach with the Legia players, who were supposed to throw at the players.

According to the report from Przegląd Sportowy, the situation was as follows: “The hooligans attacked the players, hitting them mainly in the back of the head, with a” leaf “in the face. So that they would feel humiliated, but not seriously injured. Even assistant coach Aleksandar Vuković was hit. The then first Legia coach Romeo Jozak, who stood to the side and watched everything, came out unscathed.

Then, after a dozen or so hours, Legia issued a message that it would not tolerate “crossing borders”, and on the basis of “conclusions drawn, it would take all possible measures to ensure full safety for players and all club employees”. But she didn’t notify the police either. – We did not receive an official report from anyone – said Ewa Sitkiewicz from the press section of the Warsaw Police Headquarters at that time.
