Russian athletes were forced to pay for checks in connection with CSKA and Dynamo
International sports federations are forcing Russian athletes to pay for screening for connections with military structures. The General Director of the Russian Olympic Committee, Vladimir Sengleyev, told Match TV about this.
“They check through the media any public connections with CSKA, Dynamo, participation in award ceremonies, competitions, and so on,” Sengleyev said. He said that in gymnastics it costs 3 thousand francs for the athlete and 1.5 thousand for the staff, in rock climbing – 5 thousand francs, in archery – 750 euros.
“We see that international federations view all sanctions against Russia as generating additional income,” Sengleyev emphasized, calling what is happening clear discrimination.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be excluded from participation in competitions.
