Russians Svechnikov, Michkov and Mintyukov entered the top 50 best young NHL players
Six Russians entered the top 50 best young players in the National Hockey League (NHL). The list was compiled by the Canadian portal TSN.
The highest place among Russian representatives was taken by Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov, who was in 12th place in the ranking. Four lines lower is Sochi forward Matvey Michkov, drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers.
Also included in the ranking are Russians Pavel Mintyukov (34th place), Alexander Nikishin (39th), Dmitry Simashev (46th) and Yaroslav Askarov (47th). Mintyukov and Askarov play in the NHL, while Nikishin and Simashev were drafted by league clubs, but play in Russia.
The rating included hockey players who were under 24 years old at the start of the current season. The list was topped by Canadian Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard.
