Footballer Igor Akinfeev said that he dreamed of playing for CSKA

CSKA Moscow captain Igor Akinfeev in an interview with the YouTube channel “This is football, brother!” explained his reluctance to leave for Europe.

“I had a dream to play for CSKA, to play in cool tournaments and games. I had it all. And I don’t regret anything in my life, not a single thing,” said the goalkeeper. He added that together with the Russian national team he played consistently at the World and European Championships, and with CSKA in the UEFA Cup, Europa League and Champions League.

On November 16, CSKA General Director Roman Babaev spoke about Akinfeev’s first contract with the club. Babaev stated that at the beginning of his career at CSKA, Akinfeev received a minimum salary of 8,600 rubles.

37-year-old Akinfeev has played for CSKA throughout his career. Together with the capital club, he won the Russian Championship six times, the national Cup and Super Cup seven times. In addition, as part of the army team, Akinfeev won the UEFA Cup.
