Coach Meaus called the cancellation of the 2024 Bandy World Championship a throwback to the cave age
Member of the executive committee of the Russian Bandy Federation (RFHMR), former head coach of the national team Sergei Myaus ridiculed the cancellation of the 2024 World Championship. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Meows called the International Bandy Federation (FIB) a bunch of impotent people. “This is a throwback to the cave age, this is very bad. Without Russia, it’s bad in any sport. It’s just a shame for FIB, now they can declare themselves bankrupt,” the coach said.
On November 17, the FIB announced that the 2024 Men’s and Women’s Hockey World Championships have been cancelled. They said that clubs and national associations that had expressed interest in organizing the tournaments had subsequently decided not to do so. It was noted that the federation will focus on hosting the world championships in 2025.
In 2023, the world championship was held in Sweden. The Russian team, which at that time was the current world champion, was not allowed to participate in the competition.
