The head coach of the national team, Tchaikovskaya, said that Rodnina’s criticism means nothing
The head coach of the Russian figure skating team, Elena Chaikovskaya, responded to three-time Olympic champion and State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina, who ridiculed the Russian Grand Prix. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Rodnina criticized the Russian Grand Prix, calling the competition “the championship of the housing office.” She stated that she could follow the tournament as part of her work, but she does not intend to do so in her free time.
Tchaikovskaya called Rodnina a great athlete who did not find herself in figure skating and coaching. “Hence such pain, such statements that mean nothing,” she concluded.
In March 2022, the International Skating Union banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under its auspices, including the international Grand Prix series. In this regard, it was decided to hold the Russian Grand Prix.
