Budka Suflera closed its operations in 2014, but five years later it decided to start playing again and giving concerts. At that time, Cugowski was already working with other musicians, and he no longer wanted to enter the same river with his former colleagues. Now, theoretically, there is an opportunity to meet on stage, because the band is planning a concert to celebrate its half-century next year.
Bufka Suflera will celebrate in Lublin
“The closest, even personal, celebration of this anniversary will be the concert that we will play on June 15, 2024 at the Romuald Lipko Concert Shell in Lublin [zmarł w 2020 roku – red.]. What is to happen that day on the stage of the amphitheater was met with kindness and an initial declaration of help from the mayor of the city, Krzysztof Żuk, and the Lublin Voivodeship Office in Lublin. Thank you very much today! On June 15, 2024, Polish music stars will also appear on stage with us and will be our guests. Above all, however, we would like to invite to participate in this concert those artists who over the past fifty years contributed to the extraordinary quality and popularity of Budka Suflera,” the musicians write on Facebook.
They use social media to address specific artists: “First of all, we would like to extend an invitation to the vocalists: Krzysztof Cugowski, Felicjan Andrzejczak, Izabela Trojanowska and Urszula. Your presence will add splendor to the Jubilee of your band, which is very important on the Polish music market.”
Krzysztof Cugowski made an exception in Opole, but he will not play against Budka Suflera in June
For some time now, Budka Suflera has had three vocalists – Robert Żarczyński, Irena Michalska and Jacek Kawalec. In 2020, an album featuring Felicjan Andrzejczak was released – his voice is known by fans of the group from songs such as “Jolka, Jolka Remember” or “Noc Komety”. Throughout the band’s long history, they also recorded with him, among others: Izabela Trojanowska or Urszula, but it is undoubtedly Cugowski who is most associated with Budka’s vocals, he co-founded the group since 1969 and recorded 12 studio albums with it. However, it seems that neither fans nor current members of Budka Suflera can count on a meeting in Lublin.
“Krzysztof Cugowski does not want to comment on it. Besides, we have a concert planned on this date,” Cugowski’s manager, Maciej Durczak, informed Plejada. Let us recall that in 2019, when the musicians of Budka Suflera decided to resume their activities after a break, the singer even considered a lawsuit. But then he said: “”. Various media statements from both sides showed that there were some unresolved grievances between the artists. Cugowski, in turn, appeared at a concert commemorating Lipka, who died in February 2020, at which… Budka Suflera was missing. – When there are disagreements between people, it is one thing, but a performance commemorating the deceased is another. There was nothing to think about here. I agreed and that’s it – the singer told “Fakt”.
