Police arrest hockey player who slashed Adam Johnson in the throat with a skate

In South Yorkshire, police have arrested a hockey player who cut Nottingham Panthers player Adam Johnson in the neck during a match. The Daily Mail reports this.

The player is suspected of unintentional murder. His name has not been revealed, however, according to the publication, we are probably talking about Sheffield Steelers hockey player Matt Petgrave, who cut Johnson in the throat with a skate. Petgrave will be held in custody until the circumstances are clarified.

Johnson, 29, played for the Nottingham Panthers in the 2023/2024 season. On October 28, during the second period of the British Challenge Cup match against the Sheffield Steelers, the hockey player was accidentally hit in the throat by a skate blade and lost consciousness. The meeting was stopped, the player was taken to the hospital, where he died on October 29.

Johnson played for Pittsburgh from 2018 to 2020. Together with the team, he played 13 matches in the National Hockey League (NHL), scored one goal and made three assists.
