Silver medalists of the 2022 Games Tarasova and Morozov announced their retirement

Vice-champions of the 2022 Olympic Games in figure skating Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov announced their retirement. TASS reports this.

“We are finishing sports activities, not suspending them. Unfortunately, perhaps fortunately, we will no longer go to competitions, we will not compete,” Morozov said.

On November 9, the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) and the Russian Skating Union (SKR) withdrew their claim from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision to exclude them from international tournaments. Tarasova and Morozov, as well as Semyon Elistratov and Angelina Golikova, refused to appeal against the International Skating Union (ISU). It is noted that the proceedings, which began in April 2022, have been completed.

Tarasova and Morozov have two silver medals at the Olympic Games. The athletes took second in the individual competition at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing and as a team at the 2018 tournament in Pyeongchang. In addition, they took silver at the European and World Championships twice, and also received bronze medals at the World Championships.

On March 1, 2022, the ISU banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under its auspices. Due to sanctions, skaters were unable to take part in the World and European Championships, as well as in other international tournaments.
