The Trade Union of Creative and Technical Employees TVP Wizja and the Inter-Enterprise Trade Union of Radio and Television Employees sent a letter to Telewizja Polska last week. It concerns a pre-Christmas financial allowance of PLN 2,000. PLN gross. Each employee of the company would receive it. Trade unionists emphasize that “it will enable employees to meet their needs related to the Christmas and winter period.”
The document was sent specifically to the president of Telewizja Polska, Mateusz Matyszkowicz, and the directors of the corporate affairs office and the human capital management office.
For a large part of employees, this will also be very important considering the still really high costs of living (according to the Central Statistical Office, in September, inflation amounted to 8.2% year-on-year). Granting a Christmas cash benefit will be a gesture of good will by the Company’s Management towards the Employees and a nice gift for them.
– this is the justification for the decision contained in the letter, quoted by the website virtualmedia.pl
Next try. A year ago it was a fiasco
At the moment, it is not known how the TVP authorities will react to the content of the letter. The website virtualmedia.pl also reminds that a year ago the trade unions of Telewizja Polska employees made a similar appeal. However, in the fall of 2022, they asked for an allowance half that amount (PLN 1,000 gross) and despite two requests, they were not answered. They also concerned the so-called inflation increases. The Company’s authorities explained at that time that “the implementation of the above demands goes beyond budget possibilities.”
But in November 2021, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary, depending on the length of service, each employed person will receive PLN 500, PLN 1,000. or 2 thousand zloty. The wind of coming change? What does the future hold for TVP?
First signs of trouble. Two productions were cut short
It is highly probable that this time the trade unions’ request will be rejected. It turns out that TVP is already cutting financing for some of its productions. The latest, 30th season of “Ojca Mateusz” will not be broadcast in its entirety in the current calendar year. Of the planned 13 episodes, viewers will only see 8. Fans of the game show “One of Ten” will also have to enjoy it. The premiere of the 141st season, scheduled for November 28, has been postponed.
