The Cameroonian Football Federation has been in a very difficult situation for a long time. He is constantly struggling with many internal conflicts, mismanagement or allegations of corruption.
Since 2018, the head of Fecafoot is Seidou Mbombo Njoya, who is, however, undermined by a large part of the Cameroon football community. In mid-January his election was annulled by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, but FIFA allowed him to remain in office until new elections were held.
The legend of FC Barcelona is the new president of the Cameroonian federation. He defeated seven candidates
These took place on Saturday, December 11. A total of seven candidates applied, but it was known from the very beginning that the struggle for leadership in the Cameroonian federation would take place between the current boss and the legend of African football. The former footballer of FC Barcelona and Inter Milan, among others, announced the start a few months ago and has been fighting for support among activists since then.
Samuel Eto’o’s fight for support turned out to be extremely effective, as the former footballer won the election with a fairly large advantage over his main candidate. The 40-year-old won against Njoya by 43:31 votes and will soon take over the position.
Samuel Eto’o during his career played in many clubs in Spain, England and Turkey. He spent the longest time, over five years, in which he won the Champions League twice and won the Spanish championship three times. He was also chosen the African Footballer of the Year four times. He ended his career in 2019 after a short period in Qatar.
