American tennis star urged to deprive Russia and China of the Olympics

American tennis star, 18-time Grand Slam singles winner Chris Evert admitted that she was outraged that the Olympic Games could be held in China or Russia. She wrote about this in Twitter.

The 66-year-old eminent tennis player published an excerpt from Fox News, where American basketball player Enes Kanter criticized the position of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the Games in China, according to which the organization does not consider itself entitled to interfere in the internal affairs of the host country of the Olympics. According to the National Basketball Association (NBA) player, hosting the Olympics in China is unacceptable due to human rights violations. Kanter spoke primarily about the situation of the Uyghurs in China.

Evert agreed with Kanter’s findings and called for the deprivation of China, as well as Russia, of the rights to host the Olympics. She claims that these countries are “committing crimes against humanity.” “When the Games were held in Russia, it was unbearable for me. Thus, you only support a corrupt system, ”she is convinced.

The Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing in February 2022. This is the second Games in China. In 2008, the country hosted the Summer Olympics. Russia hosted the 2014 Olympics. Then the Winter Games were held in Sochi.

Earlier, the United States announced a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics. The White House has confirmed that the American leadership will not travel to China. Athletes themselves will be able to decide whether to participate in international competitions or refuse them.
