Coach Plushenko said that he was never involved in poaching skaters
Two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko spoke about the poaching of skaters by coaches. His words are reported by TASS.
Plushenko said that he was never involved in luring athletes to his group. “I don’t do this and never did, although someone said to me that I lured or outbid someone. I don’t advise anyone to do this, but, unfortunately, this happens,” he said.
Previously, Plushenko was accused of luring single skaters from Eteri Tutberidze’s group. Thus, Alexandra Trusova and Alena Kostornaya trained under his leadership for some time, but before the 2021/2022 Olympic season, the athletes returned to Sambo-70.
Plushenko won Olympic gold twice: in 2006 he became the best in the individual tournament, in 2014 – in the team tournament. He also has three victories at the World Championships and seven first places at the European Championships.
