Khamzat Chimaev assessed training in Chechnya with the phrase “it’s good away, but better at home”
Mixed style fighter (MMA) representing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Khamzat Chimaev assessed training in Chechnya in one phrase. The athlete spoke out on Instagram (the social network is prohibited in the Russian Federation; belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned).
“Away is good, but home is better,” Chimaev wrote. He also noted in the publication the account of the Akhmat fight club.
On November 3, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, on his VKontakte page showed a video of his sons Akhmat, Eli and Adam sparring with Chimaev. “Khamzat helps the guys hone their martial arts skills, conducts master classes and sparrings, monitors the correct execution of techniques on the ground and striking techniques in the stand,” he noted.
On October 21, Chimaev defeated American Kamaru Usman at UFC 294. The fight ended in three rounds with the victory of the fighter of Chechen origin by majority decision of the judges.
Chimaev was born in Chechnya and moved to Sweden at the age of 16. In total, Chimaev spent 13 fights in his professional career without suffering a single defeat. Previously, the athlete represented Sweden, but now he competes under the flag of the UAE.
