Polish jumpers in Klingenthal are doing much better than at the beginning of the season. On the German hill for the first time this season he stood on the podium of the World Cup, where he took third place. Piotr Żyła and Paweł Wąsek, who scored points for the first time in the season, also began to show more and more reliability.
The key was to correct many technical errors and stabilize the form in the performance of, for example, Kamil Stoch or Piotr yy, but interestingly, a small game from the staff is also taking out new suits. Until now, the Poles used mainly gray or navy blue ones in the competition, and in Klingenthal our competitors performed their best jumps in black outfits. Although with the exception of Stoch in Saturday’s competition, who opted for a different material. Well, Stoch also tested the popular chocolates, i.e. brown clothes, which were once inseparably associated with our successes under Stefan Horngacher. You can see that the Polish staff is not idle and after the uncertainty related to the equipment, it was decided to make small corrections.

At the beginning of the season, our team could be surprised by quite unusual weather. Because while frosts in Nizhny Tagil or Kuusamo are normal, at the beginning of this season they were extremely bitter and even record-breaking in the last 20 years in the World Cup. In fact, even in the Vistula it was colder than usual. On the other hand, we heard voices from our staff that the suits prepared for the start of the season did not fully work in such low temperatures and the outfits were simply stiff. This, in turn, made it difficult for the competitors to assume the appropriate inrun position. And the material did not fly as it should. It is also worth noting that in Klingethal it was not as cold as, for example, in Ruce or in Russia, because the temperature dropped slightly below zero in Saturday’s competition.

When we asked Adam Maysz in Wisła about it, he replied: – The question is whether it was only for us or for others. Once upon a time, the Meninger materials were very hard, and no frost was even needed. However, they had excellent load-bearing properties. If the player is at a great disposal, the suit may be important, but not that big – said Adam Małysz after the Vistula.
The white-and-reds, however, are not idle and in Klingenthal there are black outfits in which the Poles showed a lot of good jumps on Friday evening. Black outfits were also chosen by Piotr Żyła, Paweł Wąsek and Aleksander Zniszczoł, but Kamil Stoch opted for a navy blue outfit (which had already appeared before). Looking at the reception of jumps, it is very possible that our team is also a step closer to the best solutions, although the equipment is always viewed through the prism of the results.
Our team is still checking and testing, because everyone is aware that you need to be ready with the equipment, above all, at the Four Hills Tournament. This is the first moment of the season when teams get the best they have
– We have coaches who are constantly working on it. They sew, sew on. We checked a lot of equipment over the summer. We have different materials, colors and structures. We’ve also tested it in wind tunnels, and I can’t believe it could be a problem. Although it can never be ruled out – added Adam Małysz a week ago.
Better jumps, better equipment pickup
The truth of jumping is that even the best equipment can be “burned” by a jumper when he shows bad jumps. Then it may happen that the competitor will quickly become disaffected with the new outfit or skis, and although the equipment will actually be better, the jumper will feel bad in it. It is also often the case that it is the weak jumps that determine the pickup of the equipment, and at the beginning of the season the Polish team had more bad attempts than good ones. It is always connected to each other. And while in the case of such jumpers as Żyła or Wąsek, the jumpsuit is not so important, in the case of Stoch, who is fighting for the podium in Klingenthal, the smallest details determine the success. And here, comfortable and good equipment could help the Pole in making long flights in more difficult conditions than his rivals.
