In Sweden, hockey players were banned from wearing clothes with the symbols of the country on the road
The Swedish Hockey Federation has banned national team players from wearing clothing with the country’s symbols at away matches. VG reports this.
“We are not required to wear official national team clothing when traveling to and from countries and this applies to all of our teams. However, we can use it on the bus and in hotels,” said the federation’s security chief, Abbe Tersleff.
On October 24, the world champion in cross-country skiing as part of the Swedish national team, Frida Karlsson, spoke about the precautions that the team took after the terrorist attack in Brussels. According to the athlete, they were asked to refuse sportswear with the symbols of the country.
The terrorist attack occurred on October 16 before the Euro 2024 qualifying match between Belgium and Sweden. A radical Islamist opened fire on people wearing Swedish team uniforms. Two people did not survive, and several others were injured.
