Footballer Andrei Arshavin said that London is not the decaying West
Former Russian national team player Andrei Arshavin spoke about his trip to London. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
The athlete assessed the formulation “decaying West” in relation to the city, considering that it did not correspond to reality. “London always remains as it is. He is always good – whether 20 years ago or now,” said Arshavin.
On November 8, Arshavin criticized domestic players moving to European clubs. In his opinion, Russian teams are not inferior in class to European ones.
Arshavin played for London’s Arsenal from 2009 to 2013. With the club, he played 105 matches in the English Premier League, scoring 23 goals. The midfielder is also known for his performances for the Russian national team. Together with the national team, he won bronze medals at Euro 2008.
