Washington head coach Carbery said Ovechkin has not forgotten how to score
Washington Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery spoke about the team captain, Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin’s goalless streak. He is quoted by The Hockey News.
“He hasn’t forgotten how to score. I think there are a few things he could do a little better when he’s off the puck to help him offensively. We talked about it. He’s getting better at these moments,” the specialist said. Carbery noted that offensive play may fade for a while as the season progresses.
In the 2023/2024 season, Ovechkin played ten matches in which he scored twice and made six assists. He hasn’t scored a goal in the last four games.
In total, Ovechkin has 824 goals in the National Hockey League (NHL). He continues to chase the sniper record of Canadian Wayne Gretzky, who has 894 goals. The Russian has already surpassed Canadian Gordie Howe, who is in third place, in this indicator.
