“You don’t say no when “money calls” or “I don’t work for hours, I do evil by piecework”. These are just a modest part of the quotes said by probably the most villainous figure of Polish cinema. Janusz Tracz, a businessman associated with the criminal world, became known viewers of the series “Plebania” as a ruthless, tough guy, without any scruples. And although to this day we identify Dariusz Kowalski as only the impersonator of the richest resident of the fictional Tulczyn, he is not the only character played by the actor.

Dariusz Kowalski did not stop at his role in “Plebania”. The audience could still watch it on the big screen, among others. in “Agata’s Law”, “W Rytmie Serca” or “Korona Królów”. Unfortunately, I failed to create a character as charismatic as the unique Janusz Tracz, and his career almost came to a standstill.

A generational figure. Younger Internet users loved it

Although a few years ago, the figure of a businessman from Tulczyn gained a second life thanks to the collective frenzy of Internet users from the next generation. Like their parents, the youth became fascinated with the downright diabolical face of Tracz. He even played an episode in the production “Fanatyk”, based on the famous Internet paste. And it must be admitted that the president of the local branch of the Polish Fishing Association was equally charismatic.

But Dariusz Kowalski does not limit himself only to television productions. He has been working professionally on the theater stage for many years. Not only as an actor, but also as a director. He is also responsible for creating patriotic concerts for TVP. It was he who organized the concert “The Fearless Captain Pilecki”, during which he played the role of a reciter and director. The show took place in November 2021.

Devil image? Private life is completely different

Even though Janusz Tracz became known to the viewers of “Plebania” as a fierce enemy of Fr. Antoni Wójtowicz and a declared opponent of Catholicism, in real life Dariusz Kowalski is a very religious person. It is to this higher power that he owes the durability of his marriage. Let us recall that the actor’s wife, Barbara Kowalska, has been struggling with cancer for almost two decades. They are also happy parents of a daughter, Weronika. And yet it is not the bully who loves the most?

Dariusz Kowalski does not often appear in the media, but also because he does not intend to cut off the fame that he gained primarily from the role of the above-mentioned businessman from Tulczyn. As he himself has repeatedly assured, this stage of acting is closed to him. Will he create another equally iconic TV character? Looking at his talent, we have no doubts.
