Russian Columbus Blue Jackets forward Dmitry Voronkov got into a fight with Swedish Florida Panthers forward Kevin Stenlund in a regular season match of the National Hockey League (NHL). This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
The conflict occurred at the start of the third period. The players took off their gloves and started a brawl, which ended in victory for the Russian. Voronkov dealt several blows to Stenlund, knocked his opponent to the ice, after which the referees stopped the fight. Both players received a two-minute penalty for roughness, and the Swede received another minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The game took place on the night of Tuesday, November 7, and ended with Florida’s victory in overtime (5:4). Voronkov did not show any effective actions.
Earlier, Voronkov had a fight with Montreal Canadiens tough guy Arber Dzhekaj. For the Russian, this match was the first in the NHL.
