Lionel Messi beats Erling Haaland by 105 points in Ballon d’Or voting
Detailed voting results for Ballon d’Or contenders have emerged. This was reported on the award page on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
Inter Miami’s Argentine striker Lionel Messi took first place with 462 points. Thus, he beat the second-placed Norwegian forward of Manchester City Erling Haaland (357 points) by 105 points. Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe, who completed the top three, received 270 points.
On November 3, it was announced that the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) would co-organize the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony. “UEFA and the Ballon d’Or are synonymous with sporting excellence, so our partnership will be a natural combination of recognition and synergy that promises to be simply exceptional,” said UEFA Chairman Aleksander Čeferin.
On October 30, Messi won the Ballon d’Or for the eighth time in his career. He previously won the trophy in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2019 and 2021.
