Sports.ru: Olympic champion Oleg Protopopov died at the age of 92
Two-time Olympic champion in figure skating Oleg Protopopov died at the age of 92. Sports.ru reports this.
The cause of the incident is not reported. Together with his wife Lyudmila Belousova, Protopopov competed in pair skating for the Soviet Union. Athletes won gold medals at the Olympic Games in 1964 in Innsbruck and 1968 in Grenoble. In addition, the couple won the world championships four times.
Belousova and Protopopov are included in the Figure Skating Hall of Fame, located in the American city of Colorado Springs.
