The IOC said that the removal of the Russians is a consequence of a violation of the truce
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) explained the difference between the suspension of Russian athletes and the situation with Israeli athletes. Match TV reports this.
The organization stated that the IOC’s recommendations in relation to the Russians are a consequence of the start of the SVO during the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing 2022. They emphasized that this was a violation of the Olympic Truce in force at that time.
On November 1, the IOC spoke out about the conflict between Israel and Palestine. In their opinion, athletes cannot be held responsible for the actions of their governments.
On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be excluded from participation in competitions.
