Infantino confirmed that the 2034 World Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia
The President of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Gianni Infantino has announced the location of the 2034 World Cup. His words are quoted by the organization’s account on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
Infantino confirmed that Saudi Arabia will host the World Cup in 2034. Earlier, Reuters reported that Australia had abandoned its bid to host the tournament. Thus, Saudi Arabia’s application remained the only one.
In 2026, the World Cup will be organized by Canada, Mexico and the USA. The next World Cup 2030 will be held in six countries for the first time in history: Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.
On October 8, former FIFA President Joseph Blatter criticized the format of the 2030 World Cup, calling it absurd to split the tournament into three continents. “Historically, the 2030 World Cup should belong exclusively to South America. The final part of such a tournament should be a compact event,” he explained.
