World number one Aryna Sabalenka on her Instagram (the social network is prohibited in the Russian Federation; belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) spoke about the organization of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Final Tournament in Cancun, Mexico.
The athlete accused the association of disrespect. “I think most of the players will agree with me. This is not the level of organization that you expect from the Final Tournament. Honestly, I don’t think it’s safe to move on this court,” Sabalenka said.
The Belarusian tennis player added that she has no complaints against the local organizers who created the court at the last moment. “I know it’s not their fault, and I want them, like all Mexican fans, to know that I love and appreciate them,” the athlete said.
Sabalenka started at the Final Tournament on the night of Monday, October 30, in a match with the Greek Maria Sakkari. The representative of Belarus won with a score of 6:0, 6:1.
