Frank Warren says Fury won’t be ready to fight Usyk in December 2023
Frank Warren, the promoter of British boxer Tyson Fury, announced the postponement of his fight with Ukrainian Alexander Usik. His words are quoted by the YouTube channel Boxing King Media.
Warren said Fury will not be ready to fight in December. “He had a very tough fight. He needs to restore his body and undergo treatment. When he returns to training, there will be five or six weeks left until the fight against Usyk, and this is very little,” the promoter explained.
Earlier on Sunday, October 29, Usik announced the exact date of the fight with Fury. He stated that their meeting in the ring will take place on December 23.
On October 28, Fury was stronger than former Absolute Fighting Championship champion Francis Ngannou in a fight under heavyweight boxing rules. The fight lasted ten rounds. The Briton won by split decision.
Usik has 21 victories in 21 fights. He holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF), International Boxing Organization (IBO) and WBA Super heavyweight championship belts.
Fury has 33 wins, one draw and no losses. He holds the World Boxing Council heavyweight championship belt.
