A few months before he turns 40, Peruvian shooter Paolo Guerrero knows more about being old than being the devil. He has a poor scoring rate, but his recent presence in the Quito league has given the Whites confidence.
He Predator1.85 meters tall, he made his debut in August, scoring three times in important victories that catapulted the club to the final of Sudamericana 2023, which will be played this Saturday in Maldonado (Uruguay) against Brazil’s Fortaleza.
Speaking to Conmebol, the striker said he hopes to win the continental title to cheer up the fans of Alba and Ecuador.
“A fan of the Liga de Quito is always in good times and bad, especially in this beautiful moment when we are on the verge of playing in the final,” he expressed.
“We hope to bring that joy to the Ecuadorian people, who certainly feel proud that we are at this stage of the international championship,” added Guerrero.
He was signed for six months and it took him a long time to satisfy the demanding fans of the Ecuadorian ‘King of Cups’ at least in the regional tournament, since he has a scoring drought in the national competition.
But the Inca warrior, who has also played for teams in Germany, Brazil and Argentina, fulfills another role in the university ranks: that of generating confidence. (D)
