The French publication Ski-Nordique criticized the FIS for not admitting Russians
The French publication Ski-Nordique criticized the decision of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) to extend the suspension of the Russians. This is reported on the publication’s website.
The publication believed that the sanctions were extended under pressure from the Scandinavian countries – Sweden and Norway. In their opinion, the international federation is depriving itself of the only country capable of regularly beating the Scandinavian countries. Journalists emphasized that due to the denial of access, Alexander Bolshunov and other Russians will have to be content with national starts.
On October 25, it became known that the FIS Council extended sanctions against Russian athletes. This was announced by member of the organization’s board Eric Reste.
For the first time, restrictions on the performance of Russians at international ski tournaments were imposed in March 2022. After that, they were extended several times.
