Swiss prosecutors close case against FIFA President Gianni Infantino
The Swiss prosecutor’s office has dropped the trial against the president of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Gianni Infantino. This is reported on website organizations.
“This is a complete and clear victory for me, the new FIFA and justice! It is now clear that the charges against me were nothing more than attempts by poor, envious and corrupt people to undermine my reputation,” Infantino said. He also called on those who made accusations against him to apologize.
The initiation of a criminal case against Infantino became known on July 30, 2020. It was also reported that a case was brought against the chief prosecutor of Upper Valais, Rinaldo Arnold.
Infantino was elected FIFA president in February 2016. In June 2019, he was re-elected for a second term.
