Biathlon World Cup winner Julia Simon was detained in a fraud case. Ledauphine reports.

According to the source, the 27-year-old athlete was placed in custody. It is assumed that Simone made purchases worth between one thousand and two thousand euros using other people’s credit cards. It is noted that the interrogation will be held later. The arrest was made in Albertville – a statement was filed by her teammate, Olympic champion Justine Brezaz-Boucher.

Simone is a two-time world champion. Last season she won the overall World Cup.

On June 4, 2021, Russian tennis player Yana Sizikova was detained in Paris. She was suspected of deliberately losing a doubles match at Roland Garros in 2020. The tennis player was accused of sports corruption and organized fraud. Sizikova was later released from custody.
