Swedish skiers asked not to wear clothes with country symbols due to terrorist attack

World cross-country champion Frida Karlsson, a member of the Swedish national team, spoke about the precautions the team took after the terrorist attack in Brussels. SVT reports this.

According to the athlete, they were asked to refuse sportswear with the symbols of the country. The Swede noted that she and her teammates will wear civilian clothes while traveling between competition venues.

The terrorist attack occurred on October 16 before the Euro 2024 qualifying match between Belgium and Sweden. A radical Islamist opened fire on people wearing Swedish team uniforms. Two people did not survive, and several others were injured.

The terrorist recorded a video in which he declared his belonging to the terrorist organization “Islamic State” (IG; prohibited in Russia). Belgian police have eliminated a suspect in an attack on citizens in one of the capital’s cafes. They found the weapon with which the attack was carried out.
