Shakhtar announced the termination of the contract with footballer Rasputko, who fled to Russia

Ukrainian Shakhtar broke the contract with football player Alexander Rasputko, who fled to Russia. This was announced on the club’s website.

“Due to the failure to return to the team’s location and the actual refusal to fulfill obligations under the contract, Shakhtar terminated the agreement with football player Oleksandr Rasputko,” the club’s statement reads.

On October 13, it became known that Rasputko disappeared at the airport after a UEFA Youth League match in Belgium on October 4. It was reported that the footballer born in Gorlovka (DPR) could leave the club due to his pro-Russian position, which led to conflicts with other team players.

The athlete’s father, Yuri Rasputko, said that the football player would be safer in Russia. “The information about asking for political asylum is not true. My son didn’t ask for it. He will simply apply for a Russian passport,” he said.
