Fighter Chimaev said that the nickname Borz helps him feel traditions
Mixed style fighter (MMA) Khamzat Chimaev revealed the meaning of the nickname “Borz” in an interview with the YouTube channel Nina Drama.
Chimaev said that his nickname is translated from Chechen as “Wolf.” “They eat meat, just like me. They’re eating someone. They love blood, just like me. When I was little, my brother called me a wolf,” he shared. The fighter said that the nickname helps him return home and feel the traditions.
On September 22, it became known that Chimaev had renounced his Swedish citizenship. Now he will represent the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Grozny Akhmat team.
Chimaev had 12 fights in his professional career without suffering a single defeat. In his last fight, on September 10, 2022, the athlete defeated American Kevin Holland by choke. The fighter was born in Chechnya, and at the age of 16 he moved to Sweden.
