Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Khamzat Chimaev, representing the United Arab Emirates (UAE), signed a new contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). ESPN reports this.
The athlete’s manager, Mahdi Shammas, said that we are talking about a long-term agreement. However, he did not disclose the details of the contract.
On October 21, Chimaev will meet with Brazilian Kamaru Usman. The fight will take place in Abu Dhabi as part of the UFC 294 tournament.
On September 22, Shammas announced that Chimaev had renounced his Swedish citizenship. In the next match, the athlete will compete for the UAE and will represent the Grozny team “Akhmat”.
Chimaev had 12 fights in his professional career without suffering a single defeat. In his last fight, on September 10, 2022, the athlete defeated American Kevin Holland by choke. The fighter was born in Chechnya, but at the age of 16 he moved to Sweden.
