MLS: Messi’s annual salary at Inter Miami is $20.4 million
Major League Soccer (MLS) has announced the official salary of Argentine Inter Miami striker Lionel Messi. This was reported on the website of the league players’ union.
MLS said the Argentine’s contract with the club is guaranteed to be worth $20.4 million per year. The amount includes the player’s base salary, as well as all signing fees and bonuses. It is noted that the figures are a record for the league.
36-year-old Messi joined the Inter Miami squad on July 15. His contract with the club runs until the end of the 2024/2025 season.
In October 2022, Forbes published a ranking of the highest paid football players in the world, in which Messi took second place. It was noted that last season he earned $120 million, of which $65 million came from non-playing activities. The leader of the ranking is the Norwegian striker of Paris Saint-Germain Kylian Mbappe with $128 million.
