The Israel Basketball Federation reported this Thursday to the FIBA about what Ramat Hasharonwhich is a team that was framed in the same group as Lointek Gernika Bizkaiahas decided withdraw from the Eurocup of the 2023-24 season. The Israeli club has made this decision due to the current situation in the country, and as a consequence, Group D will be played as a group of three teams, and, in the rest of the groups, the results obtained by the first three classified teams against the fourth and last of each of them will not count.
In this context, all the matches that Ramat Hasharon was supposed to play in the group stage are eliminated from the calendar. Last week, on the first day, Lointek Gernika was supposed to play on the Israeli team’s court, very close to Tel Aviv, but the match was postponed indefinitely.
FIBA will also take into account that the results obtained by each of the first three classified teams in the other Eurocup groups are annulled when establishing which are the 32 teams that go to the play-off round and the next playoffs.
