Goalkeeper of the Tajikistan national team Rustam Yatimov said that he wants to play in the RPL
Goalkeeper of the Tajikistan national team and Istiklol Rustam Yatimov announced his desire to play in the Russian Premier League (RPL). His words are quoted by “Championship”.
“Why do I want to play in the RPL? Probably because I was born there. I grew up watching the Russian Championship, I saw the excitement,” he shared. The athlete said that he wants to prove to himself that he can play in the Russian championship. He noted the high demands in the league and added that he is not afraid of competition.
Yatimov, born in Nizhny Novgorod, is 25 years old. Since 2018, he has been playing for the Tajik Istiklol and the national team. His contract with the club runs until the end of 2023. The Transfermarkt portal estimates the goalkeeper’s value at 750 thousand euros.
In February 2022, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. Teams do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team lost the opportunity to compete for access to the final part of the 2022 World Cup.
